The following are upcoming farming and agriculture events in Ohio:
April 19: OSU Extension Intro to Beekeeping; 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. geared towards those that are interested in beekeeping, but need more information to get started. Topics to be covered: equipment, costs, bee biology and how it relates to the colony, bee nutrition, where to get bees and other information; Extension Meeting room, ground floor of the Old Courthouse in Troy at 201 W Main St. Early bird registration is $10 and due by April 14. Two hours of continuing education are available for Master Gardener Volunteers.
May 6: Gardening with Tender Perennials, 9 – 11 a.m., 160 Columbus Rd., Mt. Vernon; $5 registration; deadline April 22, call 740-397-0401. Cost includes literature, morning muffins and beverages, and canna rhizomes to take home for your own garden space. Space is limited to 30 attendees.
August 15: Southwest Ohio Corn Growers and Fayette County Agronomy Club annual Field Day; Fayette County Airport and Demonstration Farm.
Sept. 19-21: Ohio Farm Science Review, Molly Caren Agriculture Center, Madison County. Details this spring.
